Overview

Lim Sim Joo graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and English Language Teaching from University of Exeter, United Kingdom, in 2000. She went on to study English Literature and was awarded Distinction in Master of Arts from University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 2007. In 2010, she graduated with Distinction in Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching and Learning from University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

She has taught English for more than eleven years. She worked as an English language lecturer in SEGi College Subang Jaya, Malaysia, for six years and taught general English as well as undergraduate programmes. Her students included local and foreign students whose ability ranged from beginner to advanced levels. She also worked as an English language teacher in several secondary schools around Malaysia for six years. In SM Pendang, Kedah, she taught Form Six classes undertaking the Malaysian English University Test (MUET).

Apart from full-time teaching, Lim had taught English part-time in several language centres, namely ELS Centre and Cambridge Language Centre. Her students included undergraduates who came from China, Korea, Bangladesh, the Middle East, and African countries as well as adult learners. In 2001, she conducted Conversational English classes as part of in-house training for corporate clients of Hoe Heng Engineering, Kedah. She also worked as a contract editor for Preston Publications Sdn Bhd to design material for English Language workbooks.
